How the booking fee works

Most booking platforms charge instructors a monthly fee or take a cut of every lesson. We think the person paying for a lesson booking tool should be whoever finds it useful in the moment — the pupil booking a slot, not the instructor teaching it.

So Adiyo charges a small convenience fee — 3% of the lesson price plus 30p — added to the pupil's total at checkout and itemised separately from your lesson price. You are transferred exactly the lesson price you set, every time, straight to your Stripe account.

There is nothing for you to configure. Set your hourly rate as usual; the fee calculation and itemisation happen automatically at checkout.

Common questions

Does Adiyo really cost nothing for instructors?

Correct. There is no subscription, listing fee, or commission on your lessons. You are transferred your full lesson price directly to your Stripe-connected bank account.

So how does Adiyo make money?

Pupils pay a small convenience fee at checkout — 3% of the lesson price plus 30p per booking. It's itemised separately from your lesson price before they pay, so there's never any confusion about what you're charging versus what Adiyo charges.

Does the fee change what I can charge?

No. Set your hourly rate exactly as you like. The booking fee is calculated on top and does not reduce your price or your payout.

What about recurring weekly lessons?

The same principle applies: you're paid your full lesson price every week. Because our payment provider only supports a percentage fee (not a flat top-up) on recurring charges, the fee for weekly lessons is 3% per charge rather than 3% + 30p.

What do I need to sign up?

A valid ADI badge or DVSA trainee licence (PDI). You will also need to connect a Stripe account to receive payments, which takes around 3 minutes and requires your bank details and a form of ID.

Can a PDI use Adiyo?

Yes. PDIs with a valid DVSA trainee licence can sign up. Your booking page must clearly display that you hold a trainee licence rather than a full ADI qualification.

Is there a limit on bookings or pupils?

No. There's no plan to upgrade and no cap on bookings, pupils, or lesson types.
